Kurdish Woman Healed of Migraines Page 2
"Your mother. You're mother is dead." her friend said.
"No" came the response. "My mother is fine. She's probably just not answering her phone."
Her friend realized that neither Ruben's friend or his family knew that the mother who stayed behind was now dead. "No, Dear," the converstaion continued. "Your mother has been dead for almost six months."
A flood of emotions washed over a woman who had fled her war-weary homeland. The conflict between loyalty, needs of those she loved, safety for her husband and sons raged like a battle for a key military hilltop.
For six years this conflict was unresolvable. Gona (not her real name), was unable to forgive herself for not staying with her needy mother. And she could not balance the loss of her mother's life against the cost of staying with her husband.
Bowing in prayer as Ruben led, Gona repented for taking on burdens that were not hers to bear. She purposefully forgave those who caused the conflicts in her life and named both the conflict and the person. She forgave herself for the transgression of taking on anxiety for things that belonged to God.
Those heartfelt prayers of a beautiful moslem woman went straight to the throne of God. He answered.
As Gona lifted her head and her eyes she met Ruben's gaze.
"It's gone!" she said with tears. "It's gone! Thank you, Jesus."
How wonderful to hear her lips speak a name that could cost her greatly to speak them is such a way in her home town.
